ELDERSLIE COMMEMORATION 2011
Despite weather reports to the contrary the sun came out for the duration of our Wallace Day Commemoration this year, someone up there definetly likes us!!

Once again there was a healthy crowd ready to march from Johnstone Town Centre to the Wallace Monument in Elderslie.

Young and old alike joined forces to remember Wallace as we marched behind the awesome Tulliallan Pipe Band!!
Nothing quite stirs the blood like marching behind the pipes and drums on a beautiful August day!!

ROBROYSTON COMMEMORATION 2011
The Robroyston Commemoration was very well attended by people of all ages. Around 40 patriots gathered at the monument as the sun came out to make sure we'd all enjoy the occasion to the max!

Society Convenor Duncan Fenton welcomed everyone to the proceedings and gave a brief explanation of Wallace's betrayal and capture a few yards from where we stood . First up to speak was Society Vice Convenor Gary Stewart who just gets better with every occasion he steps up to the microphone. Gary managed to capture the mood of the day very well.

FALKIRK COMMEMORATION JULY 2011

Around 150 patriots marched down Falkirk High Street behind the magnificent Tulliallan Pipes and Drums band. Along the way the march swelled with excited locals joining the march down to the memorial cairn at Callender Park.

It was great to see so many different flags and banners on the march which represented so many different groups joining together for the same cause, joining the Society were The Fellowship of the Thistle, Siol, The Strathleven Artizans, Na fir Dileas, The Knights Templar, Camelon History Society, The SNP and The men of Bute.

BANNOCKBURN COMMEMORATION 2011

On the 25th June 2011, members of the Society of Willam Wallace, the Knights Templar, Na Fir Dileas, SRSM, Siol nan Gael & Strathleven Artizans, began the march from the 1314 Inn to the Bannockburn Rotunda.
Unfortunately, an impatient car driver tried to drive right through the marchers, causing everyone to take evasive action.  Luckily, no one was injured, but police are investigating the incident.

At the rotunda, Gerry Cairns, of the SRSM, opened proceedings by welcoming everyone & explaining why we were there.

WALLACE YEW SAPLING JUNE 2011
When the Wallace Yew was almost destroyed by lightning some years ago, saplings were carefully taken and looked after by the council, today one of those saplings took it's place beside its big brother. The only downside was we found out through some of our members that this was happening, could've been much better publicised!!

Along with the usual dignitaries and hard working council workers, Wallace Primary School sent along a pupil from every year to help plant the sapling, great to see the kids involved and see a bit of history being made.

AVOCH COMMEMORATION 2011
The Society Of William Wallace were once again invited to attend the Wallacewell Primary School fun day to tell the kids of all the rich history on their doorstep.
As you can see by the photos, we came armed to the teeth to show the children and adults all the weapons of the era.
We even brought along a Viking for good measure!!
We'd like to thank all our members and friends who attended and helped make this day one of the best yet, yer all stars!!

Also a big shout out to Duncan Fenton for the fantastic photos, thanks pal.

DAVID R ROSS COMMEMORATION 2011

On the 2nd of January at 2 o'clock we gathered at the Wallace monument at Robroyston to commemorate our dear friend David.

Duncan welcomed the crowd with a few stories about David and how much he meant to him as well as the Society. It was never going to be an easy day for us but with us all gathered together it was easy to smile as we remembered the big Warmer with nothing but love and affection
.

Gordon sang us a song and flowers were laid in tribute!!
