BELL O' THE BRAE COMMEMORATION - 7TH JULY 2018
Saturday 7th July 2018:
It was a sad occasional for us all bearing in mind we had lost Andrew Hillhouse who designed the monument and also Chris Chalmers who helped build the monument earlier this year. To lose two talented guys on the same day was a hard one for everyone who knew them to take. It was nice to see both Andy and Chris's wives and family there on the day. As said a few tears were shed but the two of them have left a great legacy, not just to Wallace and Scotland, but something their families can look on with pride.

We started off with me saying a few words regarding Andy and Chris, then I passed over to Charli Stewart of the Young Lions who gave a wonderful speech regarding Andy Hillhouse. Next was David Reid of the Sir John De Graeme Society who gave an outstanding speech on the monument, Chris, Andy and also Scottish History. I then made another short wee speech, then passed over to Gordon Aitken of the Society who sang us out with 'Scots Wha Hae'.

The wonderful thing seeing the monument on Saturday was that it's only been there for 3 years but looks like it's been there for much longer. Thanking everyone who turned up and made it a special occasion, see you again next year but hopefully also see you at our next commemoration, at Falkirk on the 21st July.
