THE WALLACE OAK

MEMBERS ONLY LIMITED EDITION WALLACE OAK SOUVENIR ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Members,

You will be aware of the Society's ongoing efforts with the Wallace Oak, Port Glasgow, both in fundraising to create a memorial on the spot where the legendary tree that Wallace was chained to after being transported from Dumbarton Castle on his way to his judicial murder in London, and also in trying to preserve the last remaining section of the fallen tree for public display.

Unfortunately, despite great effort and research the Society undertook as requested by Historic Environment Scotland and a series of meetings with them and their associates, including a meeting in Holyrood chaired by MSP Stuart McMillan, and much follow-up correspondence between the MSP and HES, the lead body responsible for caring for and promoting Scotland's history is disappointingly being unsupportive in our drive for conservation and public display to date.

However, greater success has been made with regards to the memorial. Planning permission has been granted and the aim is to have the memorial erected in 2021. Most of you will be aware that fundraising for the memorial began last year with the sale of pieces of the oak in a canvas pouch with Wallace's seal. Those pieces have proved to be very popular, and are still available for purchase at £10 (plus postage and packing) via ebay.

Thanks to very generous donations from the legendary folksinger Alastair McDonald, and Freedom Tours Today's Steven Hughes, we have created a special 50 only Limited Edition Bundles as part of our fundraising efforts for the memorial.

This Limited Edition will be available to MEMBERS ONLY - WHILE STOCKS LAST.

Reservations for this unique offering are open from now, on a first-come first-served basis, limited to the first 50 respondents.

Each bundle costs £80 plus postage and packing, and you will receive the following :
