Duncarron Fort

DUNCARRON FORT & THE CLANRANALD TRUST 2013
When Randy came over on Society business we paid a visit to Duncarron fort as Randy helps represent the Trust over in America and he had a meeting with Chief Exec Charlie Allan.

As Society Committee members also we must thank Charlie and the crew for their hospitality and to end up getting a tour of the fort with Charlie as our guide was a bonus and for a big kid like me made my day.

What these guys are doing out here is quite simply awe inspiring, it started life as a drawing scribbled on a napkin. An image of a museum without glass display cabinets, without boundaries.
A museum with fully interactive exhibits that would  teach about Scotland’s past.

Fifteen years later that drawing is becoming a reality as Duncarron, a fully fortified Medieval Village situated beside the Carron Valley Reservoir and the men sitting around the table that night have become a recognised charity, The Clanranald Trust for Scotland (The Trust).

To stand here in the middle of the fort and see what has been acheived so far really does take the breath away.

Do yourself a favour and get yourself over there to see what they're doing and prepare to be very very impressed.
